It seems that once again the dog days of summer are coming to a close. So in the heart of things, I can't help but get excited about what lies ahead with this up coming season.
I do, however, find it odd that I happen to have such an anticipation for this time of year, considering it feels like not so long ago that fall used to be the one season I dreaded the most, and let me tell you, those Ohio winters weren't the most pleasant of seasons either, so that's saying something. Perhaps its because fall, to me, meant change. Whether it a change of school, grade, or style, it was yet the start of another school year and all the stress that follows.
Thinking of it now, I never allowed myself to fully embrace the season. As an adult my to-do list for fall seems never ending, which by the way is pumping me up by the minute. And that's just it. I'm older now. My priorities have changed. I am in a different season of my own life, (no pun intended). I have a loving husband and a spunky little 2 year old who are my priorities. I feel that most people would want to go back in time to those days, not me. So what better way to move forward and live in the now, then to share how and why I am so excited.
I recently came across this pin on Pinterest and completely fell in love with the idea!
This not only inspired me to make my own fall bucket list but it also got me thinking of everything I wanted to put on there. I am always looking for new and fun activities to do with my family because after all, those do make the best memories. The thing I like most about this idea is, it's yet another way to involve the whole family. The more I thought about what I wanted it soon trailed off into what would my daughter AND my husband enjoy.
I truly believe that giving everyone in your house a voice is extremely important. Who knows, maybe 8 years down the road my husband might rather stab himself in the eye with a fork than go to another pumpkin patch swarming with small kids and smelly barn animals, and that's OK. That sounds to me like a great opportunity for compromise and instead we go to a local football game.
I also love the chalk board idea! I am constantly seeing chalk board DIY and they seem so easy too! I have seen the chalk board contact paper, the spray paint, and even make our own color chalk board paint. So stay tuned because it sounds like we have a upcoming project on our hands.
